Freedom to Learn a Different Way
A new kind of primary school for the North East
Liberty School is an independent, progressive primary school in Blaydon, Newcastle upon Tyne, created for children from Reception to Year 6.
We believe there is another way to learn. A way where children are known as individuals, supported through strong relationships, challenged through an ambitious curriculum and inspired through
real-life experiences.
At Liberty School, learning is hands-on, practical and full of purpose. Children grow through play, projects, outdoor learning, community experiences, enterprise, life skills and strong foundations in English, mathematics and science.
If you are looking for a small, nurturing and ambitious school where your child can grow, learn and belong, Liberty School could be the right place to explore.
There is another way to learn
For many families, choosing a school is about more than finding a place in a classroom. It is about finding the right environment for your child to feel safe, confident, understood and excited to learn.
Liberty School has been created for children who need learning to feel meaningful, active and connected to the real world. We offer the personal attention of a small school, with the ambition, structure and breadth of a rich primary curriculum.
Children at Liberty School are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, solve problems, communicate confidently and develop the skills they need for life beyond the classroom.

A practical, child-centred and ambitious approach to education.
A place to grow, learn and belong
Liberty School is designed to help every child flourish academically, socially and emotionally. We believe children learn best when they feel secure, connected and able to be themselves.
Our nurturing environment helps children build confidence, develop friendships and take pride in their achievements. Across the school day, pupils are supported through clear expectations, strong relationships and opportunities to explore learning in different ways.
We want children to feel that school is not something that simply happens to them. We want them to feel part of it.

Strong foundations, wider horizons
Liberty School has an ambitious curriculum and high expectations for every child. Our progressive approach does not mean less structure or less ambition. It means children are taught in ways that help learning become meaningful, memorable and connected.
Children build secure foundations in core subjects while applying their knowledge through real experiences. They may develop literacy through storytelling and purposeful writing, explore maths through enterprise and outdoor measurement, or investigate science through nature, materials, weather, habitats and the Elements Project.
Our core learning includes:
English.
Reading, phonics, spelling, speaking, listening and purposeful writing.
Mathematics.
Fluency, reasoning, problem-solving and practical application.
Science.
Investigation, curiosity, discovery and real-world understanding.
A dyslexia-informed and neurodiversity-aware approach
Liberty School is not a specialist SEND school, but our approach is shaped by dyslexia-informed practice and an understanding that children learn in different ways.
Many children benefit from teaching that is clear, structured, practical and multisensory. At Liberty School, children are supported through strong literacy teaching, phonological awareness, systematic phonics, regular revisiting, movement, discussion and flexible ways to show understanding.
This approach can support children who may find aspects of reading, writing, memory, organisation or processing more difficult, while also benefiting the wider school community.
We focus on removing barriers without lowering expectations.
More than classroom learning
Children spend time in nature, developing independence, resilience, teamwork and practical problem-solving. Outdoor learning helps children build confidence, explore the natural world and apply their learning in real situations.
Forest School and outdoor learning
Children spend time in nature, developing independence, resilience, teamwork and practical problem-solving. Outdoor learning helps children build confidence, explore the natural world and apply their learning in real situations.
Community Days
Children regularly experience learning in the wider community. These days may include visits, local projects, cultural experiences, environmental work, partnerships and opportunities to understand how learning connects to real life.
Enterprise and life skills
Children are encouraged to design, plan, create, communicate and solve problems. Enterprise and life skills help pupils develop confidence, responsibility, financial awareness, independence and practical everyday skills.
Could Liberty be right for your child?
Liberty School may be right for families who are looking for a school where learning feels connected, active and meaningful. We have created a small, progressive and ambitious primary school where children are supported to build strong foundations while also developing confidence, curiosity, independence and a real sense of belonging.
A smaller school environment
Liberty School is intentionally small, with a close-knit community where staff have the time to know each child properly. This means children are not lost in a large system. Their strengths, interests, learning style and areas of need can be understood more clearly, allowing staff to provide support, encouragement and challenge in a more personal way.
A school that values individuality
Every child is different, and we believe those differences should be understood, supported and valued. Liberty School may suit children who need to feel known as individuals, not defined only by a year group, test score or area of difficulty. We want children to understand their strengths, build confidence and grow as themselves.
Our Fees Promise
A practical learning approach
Your child may benefit from Liberty School if they learn best through doing, exploring, talking, moving and applying their knowledge in real situations. Learning at Liberty is hands-on and purposeful, using play, projects, Forest School, community experiences, enterprise and life skills to help children understand why their learning matters.
A different kind of primary education
Liberty School takes the strongest principles of Early Years education and extends them throughout the primary journey in an age-appropriate way. Play, exploration, curiosity, creativity and strong relationships remain important as children move through the school, helping them stay engaged in learning while developing the independence and maturity they need for the future.
A broad and ambitious curriculum
Liberty School offers a broad curriculum with strong foundations in English, mathematics, science and the wider curriculum. Our approach is progressive, but it is not less ambitious. Children are supported to build knowledge and skills over time, while learning in ways that feel engaging, memorable and connected to the world around them.
A place to grow, learn and belong
Liberty School may be right for your child if you are looking for a school that combines ambition with nurture, structure with creativity, and academic learning with real-life experience. Our aim is to help children feel safe, supported and inspired, so they can grow in confidence and take their next steps with a strong sense of who they are.
Fees at Liberty School
A clear investment in your child’s education
Liberty School is an independent fee-paying primary school. Our fees reflect the small school environment, ambitious curriculum, experienced teaching, practical learning, Forest School, community experiences and the wider opportunities children receive as part of school life.
The latest brochure lists the fees as:
Reception: £5,250 per term, inclusive of VAT.
Years 1 to 6: £5,750 per term, inclusive of VAT.
These fees support a school model built around small groups, high-quality teaching, individual understanding, practical learning and meaningful experiences beyond the classroom.
Registration fee and deposit
Making an enquiry is free and does not commit you to registering your child.
If you decide to move forward, the next stage is registration. At this point, families complete the full registration form and pay a non-refundable registration fee £185. This allows Liberty School to begin the formal admissions process, review the information provided and arrange the next steps.
Registering your child does not guarantee a place. A place is only offered once the admissions and onboarding process has been completed and Liberty School believes it is the right environment for your child.
If a place is offered and accepted, a deposit will be required to secure your child’s place. Full details about the registration fee, deposit and payment arrangements will be shared as part of the admissions process.
Why we are clear about fees
Choosing an independent school is an important decision for every family. We want parents and carers to feel fully informed from the beginning, with clear information about the cost of a place and what the school offers in return.
Making an enquiry is free and does not commit you to registering your child. It simply allows you to receive more information, ask questions and decide whether Liberty School may be the right environment for your family.

Does your child have an EHCP?
Liberty School is not a specialist SEND school. However, our small learning groups, practical curriculum, dyslexia-informed teaching and neurodiversity-aware approach may suit some children who need a different style of learning environment.
The school has a limited number of places for children with an Education, Health and Care Plan. Before confirming whether Liberty School could meet your child’s needs, our team would need to carefully review the current EHCP, understand the support and provision required, consider whether the school can safely and reasonably deliver that provision, and respond to any consultation from the Local Authority.
If your child already has an EHCP, or an assessment is currently taking place, please complete our dedicated EHCP enquiry form.

It is about creating the conditions where children can grow, learn and shine.
